Superchicks Uncensored - Kate Landers

Do you ROCK your life?!  Are you a bombshell who radiates confidence, tells it like it is and takes EVERYTHING you do to the next level?!  If you're a betty who believes that life is too damn short to waste even one single second...  If you're passionate, creative, bold and just plain FUN, you're a SUPERCHICK!

Welcome to "Superchicks Uncensored", a new series that spotlights FABULOUSLY POSH women!

I'm SO excited about today's featured rockstar that if it wasn't for the whole "getting arrested" thing, I'd hijack a mic and share this piece with the WORLD!  Extra extra, read all about it, the one, the only Kate Landers of Kate Kanders Events is here!!!  lol
I say "Holy Hell" she says "Oh Goodness"!
I design parties that "rock" and are totally "kickass", while she describes hers as "charming" and "darling"!  I LOVE how different we are!!!
Trust me when I tell you that Kate is simply phenomenal!  Her elegance radiates in everything she does and her work is simply "BREATHTAKING".
You should know, I have a HUGE chick crush on Kate!  She is by far one of THE most talented women in the her feild!  Plus, no joke, she's sweeter than my berry bliss cupcakes!  Kate's exquisite signature parties ALWAYS leave me in awe.  She's incredible!
As always, Kate is insanely busy so I'm beyond honored that she took the time to chat with me!  TY!  TY!  TY!

My interview with kate!

1) What do you love most about doing what you do?!

Above all, I love celebrating the lives of children. I believe children are absolutely precious, their imaginations are treasures, and being able to help feed their imaginations all the while letting my own run wild to design and create their parties and events is nothing short of a blessing and gift.

I ALSO love what I do because it has allowed me to learn and grow, personally and professionally--this is a neverending journey, but what a magnificent one it is! I love how I have been able to learn how to watch Kate Landers Events, LLC, unfold, and branch out in different ways I never would have dreamed of. It's a tremendous privilege.

2) What would you say makes you stand APART from your competitors?

You know, that is a tough one because I can't say for sure who my competitors are!

What I can say is, in terms of what makes me unique or maybe differentiates me from other children's party planners, designers and stylists (as well as those who like I also design and create children's party products), is that I have decided to take what I have learned and teach it to others, helping nurture the creative parts of people wishing to learn how to throw more stylish, imaginative, sophisticated or meaningful celebrations for their children.

I will be doing this through the launch of my school of children's party design -- this is probably my most unique factor and what sets me apart.

I also have newly launched a preferred party planners and vendors guide, listing children's party planners, photographers, cake stylists and many other brilliantly talented people in the children's party planning industry, to help my clients and readers have access to and learn about talented people in their area to meet, work with and learn from. The experience of getting to know each of these incredible planners and vendors is unbelievable--I have learned how many people love and are passionate about their creative work--and how grateful they are to be doing it as a career--so far, no one I have spoken to has taken that for granted--and that's a lovely thing to see and hear!

3) What has been the biggest moment of your career thus far?

Oh goodness. You just get right to the nitty gritty!!! You would make an incredible news reporter (future replacement for Barbara Walters when she retires, maybe?)
There are many moments that have been special. I think for me, thus far, it would be the incredible opportunity I was given to share my heart and soul and tell my story--about how Kate Landers Events, LLC, came about--very much on a personal level. I was able to share my faith and also design a party I *adored* (a gingham party) for summer 2010 issue of the magazine, Life: Beautiful. On top of that, the feature was eight pages, and I had my first real professional photo--for the first time since our wedding, I looked like, well, a grown up! I still pinch myself about it. The magazine is known for having some of the most spectacular photographs of any national publication, and having photographs by such talented people of my work--yes, that was big for me. The biggest part was them (the amazing people of Life: Beautiful) racing to send me copies in advance upon my request, so that my inspirational and artistic grandmother, who had a shocking diagnosis and 10 week grueling struggle with cancer, was able to see me published and all "grown up" before she passed away. Yes, no doubt in my mind--that was definitely the most rewarding thing--the greatest moment and gift.

4) What event planning trend are you crushing on right now?

Oh goodness! Well I love how everyone is getting incredibly creative and imaginative with themes...basing them on storybooks, colors, whimsical characters--not as cartoon-based. I love that!

5) What one thing inspired you today?!

Wow. Good question! Wish I had a good answer for you. I would say the Halloween dessert table designed by Sweets Indeed (a vintage, sort of victorian-edgar-allen-poe feel to it). The creativity, non-conformity and sheer brilliance of the set up--yes, reading about it and pouring over the images--pure inspiration!

6) How do you juggle so many balls?! HeeHee @ the word "balls"!!! :P

I have no idea. Some days I wonder if I am doing too much, other days I wonder if I need to be doing more. I would not be where I am today and able to do everything I am juggling today if it weren't for the incredible support of my family, in particular the love of my life, my husband Ryan. He is my sounding board, a great inspiration, my biggest supporter and without him, Kate Landers Events, LLC, wouldn't exist.

7) Do you have any knew "TOP SECRET" projects that you'd like to share with us? Shhhhh... we won't tell!!!

Of course!!!!!!!!!!! There are about four lined up...but one, which I think you will be very excited about, is happening at the end of this month, and is a collaboration with a superchick indeed! Can't wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

8) Which combo best describes you?! "high-maintenance and catty"? "chill and sweet"? or "sassy and posh"?

Goodness, that is tricky....can I make up my own combo? Sweet? Yes. Perfectionist? Yes. Talks a LOT and writes a LOT? ("wordy") Yes. :)

9) What's on your playlist?!

I love the soundtracks from the tv show (I still watch old episodes) The OC. Love those soundtracks. Rodrigo Y Gabriela is another one I love...some days I love Enya and Sarah McLachlan, other days I am all about Cold Play. Oh, and I LOVE Vivaldi's Four Seasons (Summer would have to be my favorite).

10) Do you consider yourself to be a "superchick"?!!! ;-)

Oh boy....I am not quite sure yet!

I think is goes without sayin that Kate IS a SUPERCHICK!!!
