 My interview with Stacy!

Q ~ What inspired you to "JUST DO IT" and start your own business?

A ~ I had always been a "crafty" type and never met a craft project I didn't like. My medical device sales job was getting a bit redundant and I was looking for an outlet for my creative side when a friend of mine introduced me to Etsy. I started browsing all the great shops and within hours InkSpot Workshop was born on April 1, 2008. I started off making my own envelopes out of gorgeous scrapbook paper and designing super simple note cards to match the envelopes. Within months I could not keep up with the orders and knew making my own envelopes was probably a poor idea if I wanted to do this as a business and not a hobby and that's when I made the trade off to hand lined, colorful envelopes and really started tinkering around with graphic design.

Q ~ What do you love most about doing what you do?!

A ~ The instant gratification that comes from having an idea pop into your head, getting the design down on the computer, then printing, assembling, photographing and listing up on your site all within hours. Then of course the real "feel good" moment when someone actually buys what just popped into your head.  :)

Q ~ What would you say makes you stand APART from your competitors?

A ~ My unique use of bright and modern colors and graphics, as well as my hand lined envelopes. This is what attracts many custom clients to my site as well.

Q ~ Who would you just LUVVVVV to work with?!

A ~ Wow there are so many people but I would have to say Amy Atlas and Martha Stewart (of course!)

Q ~ What has been the biggest moment of your career thus far?

A ~ In print when Lucky Magazine contacted me to feature my VROOM set of note cards and in the blogosphere when Holly Becker of Decor8 gave me a super great shout out in the early days of InkSpot Workshop.

Q ~ How do you juggle so many balls?! HeeHee @ the word "balls"!!! :P

I have great help! Up until last week I had been juggling being a mom, wife, full time medical device sales rep and owner of InkSpot Workshop. Last Wednesday I became a member of the "pink slippers" club and received a severance package from my large medical manufacturer employer of 9 years. This goes down as a life defining moment for me and also I'm positive I was the world's happiest laid off person! With the support of my husband I now get to work at InkSpot Workshop 100% of the time. As for my little guy who is in Pre-K we are lucky his school has an after school program so I really have a full day to work Mon-Fri.

Q ~ Which combo best describes you?! "high-maintenance and catty"? "chill and sweet"? or "sassy and posh"?

A ~ How about A-Type with a sarcastic sense of humor? :)

Q ~ Do you have any knew "TOP SECRET" projects that you'd like to share with us? Shhhhh... we won't tell!!!

A ~ Nothing top secret except that in the next few months you are really going to see me take off as a blogger. I have been holding back since I really do not like my current blog design http://www.inkspotworkshopblog.blogspot.com and have just started working with Susie Schindler of Zee Studios for an entire bloggy makeover. A few weeks ago I hired an assistant to help me with InkSpot Workshop and this will free me up from making stationery to work on other projects such as being a consultant for women owning handmade businesses, logo and shop banner design and of course I'll have a few other things up my sleeve!

Q ~ Do you consider yourself to be a "superchick"?!!!

A ~ HELL YA!
